Increased Professional Help Needed to Address Rise in Suicides and Mental Health Issues in Cambodia

Pa Chanroeun, President of Cambodian Institute for Democracy, noted that people are starting to pay attention to mental health issues with many seeking help.

“To address and treat these problems, there should be more professionals and experts to provide proper service and respond to the needs of people based on their mental health matter,” he said.

In the community and NGO field, there should be more training to increase the number of social workers who can help other individuals connect to mental health awareness. It should include knowledge of support from the public service in mental health at the public space including awareness in schools.
