CID’s Engagement in the National UPR Follow-up Workshop

On March 24, 2025, Our President, Chanroeun Pa participated in a National Workshop focused on the Dissemination and Follow-up to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Fourth Cycle Recommendations. The workshop was a collaborative effort, jointly organized by the United Nations Human Rights in Cambodia and the Cambodian Human Rights Committee. It convened a diverse group of 140 stakeholders, including representatives from the Government, civil society organizations, international partners, development partners, UN entities, and other relevant actors (48 women, 91 men, and 1 person with diverse gender identity).

The primary objective of the workshop was to facilitate concrete steps for Cambodia to implement the recommendations received during the UPR Fourth Cycle. Discussions centered around disseminating the recommendations, identifying the lead ministries and their respective roles in implementation, and initiating the development of a comprehensive implementation plan through a consultative process.
CID’s engagement in this national workshop highlights its commitment to advocating for human rights and promoting democratic development in Cambodia, as outlined in its program objectives. This engagement also offers CID the opportunity to contribute to this vital national dialogue and support the creation of an effective UPR follow-up mechanism.
