Day 3 of the Youth Democracy Camp: Youth’s Engagement in Promoting Democratic Governance


The Cambodian Institute for Democracy (CID) organized a youth democracy camp with a focus on the theme “Youth’s Engagement in Promoting Democratic Governance.” This camp aims to empower youth with knowledge of democratic principles, good governance practices, and the importance of civic engagement in fostering accountability and inclusivity in governance and decision-making processes; to equip participants with practical leadership, advocacy, and dialogue skills to enable meaningful participation in democratic processes; and to inspire active participation in democratic processes, emphasizing the importance of youth voices in shaping policies that affect their lives.

On the third day of the event, participants took part in insightful sessions on “Public Speaking and Inclusive Dialogue Skills for Youth Civic Engagement”, led by Dr. MEAS Nee, a social development researcher and Chair of the Board of Directors at CID. This was followed by a dynamic dialogue session on “Youth Engagement to Promote Good Governance in Cambodia: Challenges and Opportunities”, featuring Dr. RO Vannak, Lecturer in Political Science, and Dr. MEAS Nee, with Dr. PA Chanroeun, CID’s President, serving as facilitator. Participants also had the opportunity to present their youth-led initiative projects and receive valuable feedback. The day concluded with a memorable closing ceremony and a vibrant cultural night.
