Authorities Warn of Five-Year Maid Service Scam
Pa Chanroeun, President of the Cambodian Institute for Democracy, urged citizens to be cautious before carrying out any transactions online without knowing the identity of the company or recipient.
“Citizens should not trust others easily, especially for transactions via online platforms, without meeting the face of the real partnership company or business owner who provides the service or sells the products. Because there is a higher chance of being scammed, losing money and wasting time,” he suggested.
The social analyst also called on the government to take legal action to prevent the scammers from repeating the scam, causing more victims to lose their money.
“The authorities should investigate further and take legal action, like arresting the perpetrator for punishment, in order to give justice for victims,” he added.
