Pa Chanroeun, President of the Cambodian Institute for Democracy, stated that this measure is to respond and prevent the past problem of foreigners staying in Cambodia illegally, and some foreigners have used Cambodian shelters to commit scam crimes, human trafficking and drug trafficking.

“I see this as a good mechanism to strengthen both the enforcement of immigration laws as well as the prevention of crimes such as kidnapping, online gambling and online fraud,” he said.
